To quote the great pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Xenophanes on the subject of daily existence, "This shit ain't easy".¹

¹ There's no evidence Xenophanes ever said this, but a lot of pre-Socratic Greek philosophical writing was lost or destroyed, so, you know, he might have.

I red about 2/3 and won't finish it. There are so many chapters of absoultely insane behavior I can read while the POV is staying there saying to herself "Ok, I am choosing to stay in this situation and enable the monster I work for" all while taking no blame at all. Delusional and frustrating.

Un bon point de départ

Une plaisante lecture qui fait le tour de différents outils philosophiques utiles pour répondre à des questions éthiques. Bonne balance entre théorie et humour. Jamais sec, jamais long, bien vulgarisé, complet.

Excellente adaptation

Xavier Coste illustre bien le caractère oppressif et l'horreur du contrôle de la pensée de ce roman culte. Le texte est allégé mais les illustrations valent mille mots. Le roman graphique est une excellente façon de consommer ce classique.

Nan Silver: The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work: A Practical Guide from the Country's Foremost Relationship Expert (1999)

Review of "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work: A Practical Guide from the Country's Foremost Relationship Expert" on 'Storygraph'

While this book provided me some insights, I feel it felt short of its promise.

It starts off great with science but slowly delves into takes that are increasingly gendered. There's also an emphasis on religion that rubs me the wrong way.

If you're looking for a book that helps you build a 90s-style relationship, this is the one. However, I believe we should set the bar higher and that we can do better than this.
